HERE, de Veyra was attempting a juxtaposition of floating figurative and abstracted images while pursuing the possibility of arriving at a problem play of sorts or otherwise a modern allusion to the Alexander Pope poem. This was one result of the painter’s early experiments with juxtaposition or image acquisitions as an emulation of the movie billboard’s attempts at paraphrasing existing narratives.
