FEATURING an erotic composition dividing a horizontal space into two equal narrative panels or windows, this small painting was an offshoot of de Veyra’s narrative drawings’ early experiments with space. The visual pun using an asteroid falling into a vagina-alluding crevasse and atmospheric lightning to connote orgasm was intended. The word “dividing” in the title conflicts with the picture context implying union or jointure, except that it points to the miraculous existence of male and female, as against their absence, therefore a celebration of that “division”.
